Mark has been in the medical and sports field for over 15 years. He holds a BA in Health Science and is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He is also a professional dry needling acupuncturist, strong first kettlebell trainer, certified sports nutritionist and certified Animal Flow coach. Mark’s approach differs from ‘traditional’ physiotherapy due to his strong focus on corrective exercise. Beyond hands-on treatment, Mark guides his clients through a progressive exercise program where they learn more about how to make their body work better. Mark empowers his clients so that after completion of their program they are fully capable of maintaining their overall improved condition. He works with a broad range of clients to support them to overcome injuries and challenges while improving their health, wellbeing and performance. Mark particularly enjoys working with people who are in chronic pain. Many have been living in discomfort for a long time with little hope to fully resolve it. He loves helping them challenge their self-limiting beliefs and guide them through a process to feel more confident and take control of their situation. Mark gets a lot of joy and satisfaction from seeing people change and finally start being able to do things that they have long given up on. With a lifelong interest in fitness, Mark’s first job was as a fitness assistant and cleaner at a local gym that he wanted to be part of. He was so happy to have access to the gym membership that he didn’t mind working for free! However, it didn’t take them long to see Mark’s interest and abilities, offering him a paid job shortly afterwards. Early in his physiotherapy career, he worked in a multidisciplinary setting of physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychologists and corporate wellness coaches. In hindsight, Mark realises what a unique opportunity this was. Looking at the power of those combined skills as a holistic team, Mark knew he wanted to learn about the separate domains himself so that he could offer something similar. Corporate wellness coaching has always been an area of interest for Mark, and COVID-19 accelerated the demand. His studio has partnered with TCS (The Capability Specialists) and since 2021 they have worked with companies such as Wing, SCIA International School and The Idea. For the Wing virtual run, they guided 150 employees through a 10 week training camp to do a 21km run together. In his own studio, Mark is passionate about having a strong mixture of senior and junior staff and a healthy combination of locals and foreigners. One of his team members is visually impaired and has been working as a massage therapist for the last three years. The studio’s intern started as a company-sponsored athlete and is now part of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu national team, recently bringing home a medal from the 2021 South East Asia (SEA) Games. Mark invites you to join him and the team to get the body you want at the studio you love. Read more

A first consultation with a personal trainer typically involves several steps to assess your fitness level, understand your health history and fitness goals, and develop a workout plan tailored to your needs. Here's what you can expect: Initial assessment: At the beginning of your first appointment, your personal trainer will ask you a series of questions about your current fitness level, such as your exercise habits, dietary habits, and any health issues or injuries that may affect your workouts. They may also ask about your fitness goals, such as weight loss, strength training, or overall fitness. Physical examination: After the initial assessment, your personal trainer will likely conduct a physical examination to evaluate your range of motion, strength, flexibility, and any areas of weakness or imbalance. They may ask you to perform certain exercises or movements to help them identify any issues. Fitness assessment: Based on your initial assessment and physical examination, your personal trainer will make an assessment of your fitness level. They will explain their findings to you and discuss any recommended exercises or modifications. Workout plan: Once an assessment has been made, your personal trainer will work with you to develop a workout plan tailored to your needs. This may include strength training exercises, cardio workouts, or other modalities, such as Pilates or yoga. They may also discuss nutrition and lifestyle modifications that can help you achieve your fitness goals. Read more
