WEDNESDAY MORNING - 9.30am - Tai Chi and Qigong Group Class - St Georges Basin
Tai Chi and Qigong Group Class - Into the Stillness Meditation Centre, St Georges Basin Two morning classes each Wednesday 9.30am to 10.30am 11.00am to 12.30pm Joanne’s purpose is to empower you to live a vibrant, healthful life through the practices of Tai Chi and Qigong. Suitable for all ages, these practices are safe, gentle and effective mind-body exercises which cultivate our innate life-force energy (chi/qi) within us to flow smoothly and powerfully through the body and through life. Learned in a fun, nurturing group atmosphere which creates community, friendships and a lovely cuppa after class, Tai Chi and Qigong can be practised seated or standing. Benefits include improved posture, balance for falls prevention, muscle strength, flexibility, coordination, confidence, daily functional activities, awareness, relaxation, presence, positive emotional responses, connection and overall health and wellbeing. Tai Chi and Qigong connect us to the earth and nature, bring people together and foster a more loving way to be in a relationship to self and other (yin yang) in the world. Come and let your chi flow. Love is all there is - one with gaia - for the good of all. Namaste. There are many characteristics of Joanne’s that draw me to her class- expertise, patience, inclusiveness, humour, heartfulness. The one I value most is the quality of attention she brings to her class and every one in it, that quality of being fully present to every moment and every movement. Through her modelling of that alert but relaxed attention, I am coming to develop the same approach to my Qigong practice. I’m grateful to Joanne for the strong sense of well-being and agency that I experience in her class, and in my life in general. Peter Becke Read more

After joining Joanne’s Tai Chi for Rehabilitation class 7 years ago, I quickly realised that I had found the special teacher I had been asking/ hoping for. Joanne teaches and shares her knowledge from her beautiful heart, creating an atmosphere of such warm acceptance. she truly meets and values each and every individual member of her classes exactly where we are. Her professionalism is seen through the simple yet important procedures teaching a public class requires; the structure and content she brings to each lesson; professionalism which shines most brightly in her continuing search for new forms or different approaches to Tai Chi and Qigong to share with us. These expand our knowledge and experience, whilst giving respectful attention to all of the forms and their lineages that we have learnt over the years. Physical benefits abound and include improved balance, coordination and mobility that come from improved spatial awareness; improved flexibility; improved breathing which promotes stable blood pressure; as well as (for this writer) an inner sense of quiet joy. Along with all of the physical benefits, Qigong practice has strengthened my connection to the Natural World and the Cosmos, as well as affording moments during our practice when I experience a direct connection to my soul.
