About me

Liama is a Yoga Therapist and Senior Yoga Teacher with a background as a Shiatsu Therapist.

Her passion is working in the mental health field, particularly with anxiety, depression and PTST. She uses the tools of yoga to teach the life skills of self-inquiry, relaxation and self-soothing with breath practices to help balance the nervous system and calm the emotions.

Liama loves the power of Yoga Therapy to be able to provide her clients with significant results and support remarkable awareness ... and change.

A practising yogi from a young age, Liama has always found yoga beneficial for her own mental health and staying balanced. She completed her Zen Shiatsu training with Jack Marshall at the Zen Renaissance Healing Centre in 2001, and worked at this centre before opening her own practice in Kiama, NSW in 2008. In 2010, she became a Yoga Teacher and has since undertaken training in Rainbow Kids Yoga, AcroYoga and SUP Yoga.

In 2017, Liama completed her Yoga Therapy Training with Adore Yoga. She is currently in the process of undertaking her Yoga Teacher Training and looks forward to teaching new yoga teachers in 2021.

Liama has over 80 yoga classes available online and was instrumental in bringing Sidewalk Talk to Sydney, which is a global listening movement to build communities and create a sense of belonging and connection through listening. She runs her practice from Dee Why in Sydney and also provides her services online.

Liama is a chocaholic, with a special passion for dark chocolate.

She looks forward to helping you achieve optimal health through Yoga Therapy by designing a personal practise for you.

Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy uses the tools of Yoga to allow you to achieve optimum health by designing a personal practise. Sessions are one-on-one and after ... undertaking a holistic assessment, a specific program is designed for you to do at home or in a small group class setting.

In the initial Yoga Therapy session, time is spent understanding your needs and agreeing the goal of the practice. Liama looks at the whole person - physical, emotional and mental states - and assesses which are most relevant to the presenting situation.

Liama will then develop an initial practice which can be made up of Meditation, Breathing Exercises and/or Yoga postures. The practice is trialled, fine tuned and written down for you to take home.

At each consultation, Liama will gather your feedback and the practice will be tweaked depending on what has worked best for you. These private sessions may continue or you may choose to move into small group classes.

Liama is also certified in Rainbow Kids Yoga and can undertake Yoga Therapy sessions with children on request.

Zen Shiatsu Therapy is a healing technique developed by the Japanese Master, Shizuto Masunaga which literally means “finger pressure”.

Meridians ... are defined channels of energy that run through the body. Each meridian relates to physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the person. The energy known as ki or chi runs through the meridians. There can be too much or too little ki in each meridian.

A Shiatsu treatment with Liama will balance the ki in your meridians. By balancing the meridians, the root cause of a condition is treated. This promotes the body’s natural healing abilities and overall wellbeing is improved. Benefits include pain relief, stress and tension release, boosted immune system, improved circulation and mental clarity.

Liama can also undertake Shiatsu treatment sessions with children on request.
