Sue is a yoga therapist and teacher who helps you to get to know and embody your physical body, and work with it in a way that supports you with your unique life path. Yoga has sustained and strengthened Sue throughout her life, and she wants to share its many benefits with her clients as she creates the space to empower them to discover their own inner healing power and strength. Sue believes yoga works on all layers of our existence – our physical body, our energetic body, our emotional body,... Sue is a yoga therapist and teacher who helps you to get to know and embody your physical body, and work with it in a way that supports you with your unique life path. Yoga has sustained and strengthened Sue throughout her life, and she wants to share its many benefits with her clients as she creates the space to empower them to discover their own inner healing power and strength. Sue believes yoga works on all layers of our existence – our physical body, our energetic body, our emotional body, our body of thought and our self. When we work with one aspect, she says, it has the potential to impact the other layers of our existence. Sue has a special interest in how trauma impacts the physical body and how this can be healed. Rather than allowing a physical illness or injury to take over your life, yoga therapy can empower you to recognise and work with other layers of your existence to support your physical structure in the healing process. When a student presents with a physical condition that requires further information in order to work in a way that supports the student in honouring their physical structure, Sue recommends seeking expert opinions. She has a trusted network of local experts she refers clients to for further investigations and diagnosis if needed. Sue first discovered yoga after recovering from a mountain bike accident. The mindful and gentle practice made her feel strong, relaxed, aligned, peaceful and full of vitality, as well as helping her to heal. When Sue’s husband passed away from cancer in 2009, the loss changed her life forever and through yoga and meditation, she intuitively explored the meaning of life on a deeper level. The therapeutic and healing qualities of these practices helped her move towards a sense of equilibrium and a deep sense of inner calm. By 2013, Sue had established her yoga business, led by the desire to share the benefits of yoga with others. Sue believes the therapeutic and healing qualities of mediation and yoga helps one move towards a sense of equilibrium and a deep sense of inner calm. Yoga has enriched Sue’s life in so many ways – sustaining her, helping her to regain strength and energy to become emotionally resilient, and to heal, grow and truly live again, enjoying life with an open heart. These intimate therapeutic group classes offer a nourishing, refreshing, inspiring and self-sustaining... These intimate therapeutic group classes offer a nourishing, refreshing, inspiring and self-sustaining experience. Each week the threads from prior classes are linked allowing you to further refine, enhance and strengthen your relationship within yourself to adapt, evolve and cope with the ever-changing landscape of your life. Sue skilfully teaches classes in response to the needs of each individual and the group as a whole. You are always encouraged to honour yourself. Through various practices you will be gently and safely guided to connect and align to the truth of who you be to gain a greater understanding of yourself and your uniqueness, how you can empower yourself to make the practice your practice to support you in your life. Typically morning classes are more energising and evening classes are more relaxing. Classes include practices such as: • meditation to quieten and focus the mind for peace and clarity • pranayama (breathing practices to focus the mind and enhance energy) • asana (traditional yoga postures) • movement practices to support functional healthy range of motion, strength, balance, co-ordination, stability, steadiness and ease. ie. Useful, practical movement. • mantra (sound practices) • vedic chanting • mudra (hand or body postures to refine and seal energy flow) • restorative and relaxation postures to settle the nervous system and replenish energy • self-reflection. The philosophy of yoga is respectfully woven into classes to integrate this ancient wisdom into our modern times and for you in your unique life. Practices are offered in a way to enhance awareness of your subtle bodies and the quality of proprioception (perception and awareness of your body’s position and movement) and interoception (feeling and understanding what’s going on inside your body). Yoga therapy can be used to treat an existing physical, mental or emotional health issue, and can also be used as a self-care strategy for prevention and maintenance. Yoga therapy package: • initial consultation and session • phone check-in after first session • two x one hour follow-up sessions • home practice tailored to your personal needs • relaxation/meditation recording by Sue upon request 90 minutes $360 (paid in advance) Depending on your personal needs, your yoga therapy may include the following components: • body postures and movement including Asana, Mudra, Kriya; restorative postures, somatic movement practices • breathing practices – Pranayama • mind practices – Meditation, Visualisation, Imagery, Mindfulness, Relaxation • sound practices – Mantra, Chanting • cultivating positive values. Sue will carefully design a daily practice tailored to your specific needs. Yoga therapy is suitable for every person regardless of age or gender, physical and mental capacity. No prior yoga experience is needed. Yoga therapy is a complementary therapy, which means you can continue with your existing medical treatment and if necessary, with your permission, Sue may liaise with your team of health professionals.
