Lisa is the founder and course author at the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness (ACMM) which provides meditation teacher training and short courses. Lisa started facilitating meditation groups 15 years ago and she loves sharing this inspirational healing tool with others. From her own meditation teaching experience, Lisa developed a unique technique for guiding meditation. Lisa is the founder and course author at the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness (ACMM) which provides meditation teacher training and short courses. Lisa started facilitating meditation groups 15 years ago and she loves sharing this inspirational healing tool with others. From her own meditation teaching experience, Lisa developed a unique technique for guiding meditation. Members of the group accelerated their personal growth quickly and long running members of the group asked her to teach them her technique so that they could start teaching. This was the beginning of her meditation teacher training course, and it has since been developed and expanded to include many more techniques and teachings. The courses taught at ACMM have evolved organically through her own curiosity and need. Lisa has gone through a deeply holistic, personal and professional research process in creating both the core meditation teacher training and the electives, as well as being mentored by teachers such as Alannah Dore and Ken and Elizabeth Mellor. ACMM is a heart-centred holistic environment for students seeking a deep experiential learning experience with compassionate teachers. It attracts a broad range of students and supports them in deepening their own personal practice, assists in supporting a career change into meditation and mindfulness, or adding these modalities into an existing wellness business. Meditation has been a part of Lisa’s life since she was 16. She turned to meditation during her final year of high school and later returned to it in a more committed way to help her through very tough times. Meditation has allowed Lisa to experience herself as a wiser and more expanded person by removing herself from the limitations of her current thinking, allowed new solutions and helped to relieve stress. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Melbourne University and has a Diploma in Holistic Living Counselling, Advanced Certificate in Counselling Children Holistically and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. She is also a reiki practitioner. She is also the Treasurer of Meditation Australia and has been a board member for a number of years, enjoying this role and the peer connections that have blossomed. Lisa knows that taking time for yourself is the greatest gift that you can give yourself on a daily basis. Mediation can become a fundamental practice that brings health, wellbeing and support to you for the rest of your life, like a trusted friend. This program contains step by step techniques and activities that support you in incorporating this ancient art into your life. In this elective, you will learn how it can be done easily and simply; dispelling myths and misconceptions around mindfulness. You will learn to use the supportive RAIN technique and look at how to apply various practices that form the four foundations of mindfulness. The program also includes easy to apply breathing techniques, grounding, body awareness techniques and much more. You will be able to give these techniques a go on your own and also be guided with audio recordings. You will be guided in applying mindfulness in everyday moments and creating a regular mindfulness practice, taking some time out for you. This program supports the quieting of incessant mind chatter and helps to reduce stress. It delves into a variety of mindfulness techniques so that you can find the one/s that fit best for you. It offers ways to support a number of issues and challenges faced in modern life. Finally, the program offers a follow up coaching call to complete the journey which gives you the opportunity to connect with a teacher and share your experience. Journaling for Clarity is one of ACMM’s courses for the Advanced Certificate in Guiding and Teaching Meditation and Mindfulness. It can be completed as a stand-alone program with credits towards your Advanced Certificate. It combines journaling and meditation into a daily program for self insight. Meditation is one component of holistic self-care. We need other activities to take care of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects. Preceding meditation with journaling is an excellent way to clear the mind and process the day’s events. It helps to shift emotions and bring clarity and insight. Most of all, it helps us to reconnect to our inner selves, which can bring greater depth to our meditations, allow less obstructed entry into meditative states and open the way to deeper insights about ourselves. I find it also helps inform the most appropriate technique and focus to utilise in my meditation time as I can bring specific soothing through meditation to particular issues running in my life. This daily six week journaling program is designed for use alongside your daily meditation practice. It contains specific activities that can be translated for use with groups as well as healing activities. This program covers: - the validation of feelings - transforming negative feelings - building self-esteem - building inner resources - healing emotional wounds - opening your heart to the wonder and joy of life.
