A Day in the Life of a Kinesiologist: Healing, Holding Space & Running a Practice

When people think of kinesiology, they often imagine a quiet clinic, healing hands, and maybe a client or two talking through emotional blocks or receiving muscle monitoring. What they don't always see is the full spectrum of a kinesiologist’s day, especially when you're self-employed and wearing all the hats. As a holistic kinesiologist who also runs a business, a day in my life includes therapy, admin, marketing, tech, teamwork, and tuning in.
Let me walk you through a typical day—not just the appointments, but the behind-the-scenes rhythm that keeps my business and my energy flowing.
Before Core Hours: Grounding, Connection, and Setup
6:00–7:30 AM – Wake, Ground, and Check In
I start my day gently—some deep breaths, journaling, a short meditation or walk if time allows. This helps me tune into myself before I support others.
7:30–8:30 AM – Digital Check-in
While sipping tea or coffee, I check emails, social media DMs, text messages, and online bookings. This is when I respond to:
- Current clients rescheduling or confirming
- New client inquiries
- Group notifications from wellness forums or kinesiology communities
I also like to post or schedule something relevant for the day—whether it’s a tip on energy balancing, an upcoming workshop, or an inspirational quote. Engagement is key, so I interact with others’ posts too.
8:30–9:30 AM – Head to the Clinic: Set Up Shared Space
I share a clinic space with other therapists, which means being a considerate co-user:
- Tidying shared areas
- Setting up filtered water, diffusers with essential oils, and calming music
- Making sure the energy feels welcoming and clear
This time also allows for reflection or brief preparation for the clients I’ll be supporting that day. It’s a sacred part of my routine.
Core Hours
9:30 AM – 5:00 PM – Personal Clinic Space Prep
This is where I transform my room into a healing sanctuary:
- Turn on calming music (sound is medicine!)
- Set up intentions and aromatherapy blends for the day’s energy in my clinic space
- Place fresh bedding on the therapy table
- Open my laptop and pull up the day’s schedule
- Most importantly, set an intention for the day. I ask, “How can I serve best today?”
That grounding moment keeps me focused, centred, and open.
9:30 AM–5:00 PM – Sessions with Clients (4–8 appointments/day)
Each client is on their own healing journey. Over the years, I’ve supported people with:
- Emotional blocks, stress and anxiety
- Digestive or hormonal issues
- Learning and behavioural challenges in kids
- Trauma release and energy clearing
- Postural or muscular discomfort
- Nutrition and supplement balancing
- Goal setting, mindset shifts, and more
Every session includes muscle monitoring, talking through issues, using tools like acupressure, chakra balancing, sound therapy, flower essences, or energy work. Each session ends with actionable support—homework, affirmations, stretches, oils, dietary shifts, or journaling prompts. Between sessions, I cleanse the space, update notes, take payments, rebook, and take a few deep breaths to reset. Networking, connection, and collaboration also happen during these hours—catch-ups with local wellness professionals, phone calls with potential collaborators, or quick Zoom chats with referral partners. Building relationships is as much a part of my day as client care, and these usually take place within core hours.
Late Afternoon: Admin, Money, Marketing
5:00–6:00 PM – Admin Power Hour
- Once the core hours are done, I shift into admin mode:
- Respond to outstanding client messages
- Process payments
- Update client records and progress notes
- Review upcoming appointments and prep for the next day
- Schedule social posts or review stats
This is also my time to review financials, check in with my business goals, and make sure I’m on track.
By 6:00 PM, I close the laptop, tidy the space, and step back into my personal life,
feeling fulfilled from a day of purpose and presence.
Final Thoughts
I have one day a week set aside for admin and business management, professional development and personal growth, and this has been an important part of my longevity to ensure all aspects of my life as a kinesiologist and as a person are in balance, within the flow of life. I love what I do, and I really enjoy working for myself. Of course, there are aspects of everything I do that are not my favourite (read admin), but these not-so-favourite parts are an essential part of being able to do what I love. And what I love most about being a kinesiologist is witnessing the transformation of the people who trust me to help them and their loved ones. Following my heart and intuition has also helped me transform into the version of myself that gives me joy. Be a kinesiologist, be a painter, be an accountant – choose whatever brings you joy. Of course, I do recommend becoming a kinesiologist!
