Vanessa is an experienced social worker, group facilitator and author who is passionate about supporting vulnerable people and communities. She has over 15 years of experience working with children, youth and adults in the health and education sectors teaching social and emotional wellbeing strategies for mental health. With support and hope, Vanessa knows that change is possible. Sharing her extensive experience working with at-risk and disengaged youth as well as her own scars, Vanessa is particularly passionate about working with families and is enjoying getting back to her grassroots. Vanessa’s key areas of interest include healthy and unhealthy relationships, behavioural challenges, fostering time and connection, working through misunderstandings and temperament differences, and looking inwards to explore different parenting styles. Holding a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Science (Human Services) from Edith Cowan University, Vanessa has also undertaken training with Rhythm2Recovery to incorporate music and cognitive reflection into her work. Throughout her career, she has been responsible for overseeing and delivering federal research programs, grants and training and has written numerous health resources for children aged 5-8 years assisting in mental health and emotional wellbeing. Vanessa is the author of the four “forgotten toys” series which have sparked many conversations about acceptance, change, hope and loneliness. Vanessa also creates tailor-made musical counselling programs for educational groups, community groups, youth groups and people with a disability and teaches other professionals in the health and education sector around the factors that contribute to healthy and unhealthy relationships. She welcomes you to join her for growth, development and drumming for all generations of your family. Read more
