About me

Bridget is a yoga teacher who helps LGBTQIA+ parents find calm within the chaos. The LGBTQIA+ community experiences very high rates of mental health outcomes, trauma and suicide compared to cisgender straight/heterosexual (non LGBTQIA+) people. These experiences are related to stigma, prejudice, discrimination and abuse on the basis of being LGBTQIA+. Bridget identifies as queer and non-binary, and uses they/them pronouns. As a parent and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Bridget knows the power ... of yoga to support healing and processing of trauma and other experiences. With a passion for inclusive, accessible and empowering yoga for all, Bridget teaches yoga that is gentle and restorative to LGBTQIA+ parents. Like many people, Bridget initially saw yoga as ‘a good stretch’ after other exercise. They became more interested in it after taking up a regular yoga practice and seeing a noticeable difference in being able to fall asleep quicker, experiencing a deeper sleep, and reducing the chatter in their mind. As a parent, Bridget also loved the impact that yoga had on the increased awareness of their body and breath, assisting them in becoming more patient and less reactive in day-to-day parenting. They completed their 200 hour yoga teacher training at Sukha Mukha and they are also trained in Accessible Yoga Training, Cosmic Kids, and Yoga for All. Bridget’s background includes youth work, working with LGBTQIA+ parents and community development projects. They are an accredited breastfeeding/chestfeeding volunteer counsellor with La Leche League Australia and have been a volunteer with Rainbow Families NSW since 2017. Bridget is the current project lead and representative for a partnership lactation project with the Australian Breastfeeding Association specifically for LGBTQIA+ parents. Bridget is creating LGBTQIA+ awareness for yoga teachers across Australia and is building an online yoga community hub for LGBTQIA+ parents to provide a safer, braver place to connect, learn and share yoga. When LGBTQIA+ people come to yoga and are introduced to the tools that yoga offers, it can offer a pathway towards autonomy, empowerment, compassion and living their truth. Bridget looks forward to welcoming you. Read more

Open your heart, step forward, be curious. This 60 minute online class includes restorative asana, pranayama and meditation. It is a gentle ... class for LGBTQIA+ folks focussed on “the yoga of being rather than doing”. Classes are themed around agency, empowerment, curiosity and self inquiry. Bridget encourages the use and normalisation of props, including items that we can often find in our own homes, to help support the practice and access asana in various ways. These classes are for anyone looking for a gentle, subtle practice, or perhaps are new to yoga and curious what it is all about. Designed with accessibility in mind, these classes are held online on: XX day XX at XX time XX. Alternatively, you can access the recording. Read more
