Her yoga and meditation classes are focused on “innercise” and mental health and wellbeing, rather than on the exercise aspect. Nicky resonates with the composure that Dru Yoga and Meditation gives her, as it balances all the layers of her being – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Yoga, Nicky believes, is for everybody and every “body”, and should remain sustainable by adapting to varying needs depending on our health, lifestyle and age. Nicky’s focus is on keeping her students safe and encouraging them to listen to their own body’s needs and only work at a level appropriate to those needs. Her students generally feel a greater sense of calm, composure and stillness, less stress and anxiety and often have more energy. With so many people experiencing a greater need for relaxation and mindfulness in these times, the classes benefit everyone. Nicky says regular yoga, meditation and breath practice have transformed her own life, creating improved work/life balance and cultivating a new realm of inner peace, serenity and resilience. She loves the heartfelt connections and sense of community that her yoga and meditation teaching brings and feels rewarded by seeing the stress drain from their faces. Nicky has taught Dru Yoga since 2018 and has recently become a qualified Dru Meditation teacher. She has worked in community services for more than three decades, with a focus on training, aged care, youth work, women’s health, injury prevention and health promotion, and has a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing, with training in Mental Health Aware Yoga. Nicky has a passion for making the world a more inclusive and peaceful place. Read more
