About me

Claire is a qualified LV chair yoga teacher, certified yoga therapist and Zumba teacher.

Claire has been instrumental in bringing awareness of chair yoga to the wider community, making her dream a reality of having a yoga class where everyone can practice together regardless of age, ability or circumstance.

An expert in her field, Claire holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sports and Exercise Science) from the University of Western Sydney and has been in the fitness industry for more than 20 ... years.

During this time, she has developed a passion for helping others to live not only a healthy life but a happy one. She is dedicated to creating exercise sessions that are welcoming and inclusive for everybody.

Her classes are not only beneficial for the physical body and improving physical health, but are also fun, empowering and inspiring. Claire helps people to feel happier, healthier and to live their lives to the fullest, no matter who they are or what stage of life they are at. Her goals are to improve lives and positively impact all who she comes into contact with.

After working with seniors for many years, Claire became increasingly aware of the need for a yoga program that was more specifically designed to suit their needs. She searched, but there was nothing available in Australia for this population.

In 2014, she travelled to New York to train with Lakshmi Voelker, the founder of LV Chair Yoga (LVCY). It was a decision that changed her life. Not only did she learn many ways to help her students feel better and improve their quality of life, but she returned to Sydney feeling inspired and as an improved, more compassionate teacher with a wealth of knowledge under her belt.

Since then, Claire has been teaching classes and running workshops in Sydney while travelling back to New York multiple times to complete more training with Lakshmi and assist in the Teacher Training. In 2016, Claire joined forces with LVCY and is now proud and excited to be an LV Chair Yoga Teacher Trainer and bring this wonderful training to Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Based in Sydney, Claire provides her supportive and inclusive classes, teacher training and one-on-one consultations in person and online.

LV Chair Yoga Teacher Training

Learn how to teach chair yoga and become professionally certified with our LV Chair Yoga Teacher Training Course.

This course is comprehensive, ... in-depth and will teach you everything you need to know in order to teach chair yoga to many populations, safely and effectively.

It is open to yoga and non-yoga teachers such as medical or mental health professionals, community or aged care workers, teachers, corporate workers or anyone who would like to share the benefits of yoga with more of their community. You must have some previous yoga experience (e.g. going to classes, home practice or teaching).

There are three different options for study. You can choose from:
Private self-study combined with one-on-one tutorials with Claire (commence anytime - self-paced and online)
Group study delivered face-to-face (please check with Claire directly for upcoming locations and dates)
Group study via a virtual classroom on Zoom (please check with Claire directly for upcoming dates).

The course consists of 32 hours of study. Course cost includes all training materials including 200+ page manual, access to online content, DVD plus online versions of Lakshmi's DVD and CD.

Claire is available for one-on-one yoga therapy sessions which are customised to your needs. Specialising in older adults and chair yoga, Claire ... will assess and design an appropriate practice to take home to apply on a daily basis for review and modification at each visit.

Chair yoga offers you the ability to improve your health through an amazing form of adaptive exercise. You are supported by Claire and a chair throughout the session so that you can receive yoga’s healing and restorative benefits that have been known for thousands of years. There is no getting up and down from the chair - all the postures are performed seated, which removes fear of falling, or the need for extra space.

Yoga relaxes your body and mind, improves your musculoskeletal fitness and flexibility, and elevates your overall health and wellbeing. Some other benefits include:

Slow flow yoga with Claire (group class - online)

Slow flow yoga is a creative, slower paced class incorporating a blend of vinyasa (dynamic flowing poses) and hatha (longer held poses).

The ... slower pace encourages connection of mind, body and breath and an opportunity to find mindfulness within the movement.

Great for those who would like to build strength and stability, awareness and decrease stress levels, cultivating a sense of calm.

Class incorporates flowing and longer held Yoga poses that are standing, lying and seated. There is a mixture of gentle and more challenging poses, breathing techniques and meditation. Options will be given throughout the class, so that you can practice in your own way, making the practice suitable for everyone.

This class is held weekly on Fridays from 12.00pm to 1.00pm AEST (Sydney time).

LV Chair Yoga with Claire (group class - online)

Experience the benefits of a regular yoga practice, on any chair, anywhere!

This chair yoga class is perfect for everyBODY but especially for ... those who want to participate in yoga but have challenges getting down to a yoga mat on the floor. It is ideal if you are travelling, sitting at a desk, a bit older or less mobile, living with a disability, doing rehab or managing an injury.

The benefits of chair yoga are immense. Not only can you gain better flexibility, mobility, balance, and strength but you can improve your circulation, digestion and posture.Yoga also helps to calm the mind, reducing stress and anxiety levels.

Claire’s class is taught in a way that is supportive and inclusive for all members of the community. All of the yoga poses are adapted to the chair, with multiple options offered so that everybody can participate at the same time, in the same class regardless of age, level of experience or ability. If you are in a wheelchair - you can join our class. The student can take an approach that may be gentle and mindful, or more dynamic and challenging depending on their own personal needs.

This class consists of 35 minutes of chair asanas to strengthen muscles and joints, improve mobility, health and fitness.

It ends with a beautiful relaxing 10 minute meditation to reduce stress, anxiety and improve overall wellbeing.

This class is held weekly on Fridays from 10.00am to 11.00am AEST (Sydney time).
