Julie is an experienced Meditation Teacher and Mindful Living Coach.
She is passionate about equipping children, teenagers and adults with the ability to use meditation and mindfulness in their everyday life. She loves teaching them tools and skills for self-regulation, how to be still energetically, calming techniques and being present.
Julie is in the much-loved role of Senior Coach and Assistant Principal with the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness (ACMM) and has been an integral ... part of the team since 2012. She has authored two mindfulness electives for ACMM and the ‘Mindfulness for Kids’ program. Julie runs a popular Australian children’s meditation website and facilitates meditation and mindfulness groups for adults and children in her community.
Seeing a need for more meditations for our young ones, Julie started experimenting with her children’s kindergarten classes. She immensely enjoyed chatting with the children after she delivered a short guided meditation and hearing their wonderful accounts of the places they went and what they experienced.
Julie encourages all parents and carers to incorporate meditation and mindful practices for children from birth through simple techniques like deep breathing, positive affirmations and playing beautiful calming music.
Meditation has been a constant reliable friend in her life. She sought out meditation initially as a way of supporting huge emotional challenges. She now finds that it is part of her everyday life, a wonderful part that supports her and cements the core value that “I am worthy of love and care”.
Julie’s first introduction to meditation was in high school with a guided visualisation delivered by a Martial Arts instructor. She was in awe of how real and effective it felt, which planted the mindfulness and meditation seed for her. This moment in her adolescent years flowed into her desire to learn more.
She later studied the art of Transcendental Meditation and continued learning, completing Reiki I and II and then a year-long Reiki Master Healer Training. She sought out courses in Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, travelled to Nepal to study Buddhist practices and Meditation in the Mahayana tradition, and completed a Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies in 2002. In 2005 she completed a Certificate in Guided Meditation Teaching, re-trained in 2011, and now holds a Diploma in Guiding and Teaching Meditation. Julie also recently studied an Advanced Certificate in Holistic Communications.
Julie is a member of the Meditation Association of Australia, the International Institute of Complementary Therapists and the International Mindfulness Teachers Association as well as being a Certified Mindfulness Teacher with the IMTA.
Julie enjoys taking her daughter and son and through meditation and mindfulness experiences. She loves seeing how these guided journeys support them with the challenges life can deliver to a growing and evolving child. Her son expressed one time after a meditation that “he felt like Pooh Bear after he had honey!” and her daughter says she likes it because “we get to see what we dream about.”
She feels extremely grateful to have learnt this powerful healing tool and to be able to share it with you. Julie sincerely hopes your child receives as much benefit from it as she and her family do. Read more
